CCC Welcomes 2026 Overseas George Simpson!

Our male overseas this year comes with plenty of promise - and a watertight recommendation from our former overseas Bryce Grant no less.

A left hand medium pacer, George opens the bowling for Palmerston North Old Boys, and in December of 2025 he made his Manawatu representative debut, equating to national counties level in English cricket.

We look forward to George joining us from the end of April ready for the start of league season, and wish him all the best in his season as a Bluecap!

Walking Cricket Sessions Go Outside at Chertsey CC!

Looking for a fun way to stay active, meet new people and enjoy a bit of cricket?

Starting Tuesday 14th April, sessions will take place every Tuesday from 10.

Walking Cricket is a slower-paced version of the game, perfect for all abilities and a great way to keep moving in a friendly, relaxed environment.

Whether you’re a former player, completely new to cricket or just fancy giving something different a try, you’ll be made very welcome.

Joining or Renewing a CCC Colts Membership?

We have just finished putting together our training dates for the summer - cricket is coming.

The membership window is open from 1st April to 30th April - existing members will receive a renewal request from Membership via Spond on the 1st.

As part of the Colts membership each Colt will also get either a training shirt or cap free, and so not to make the first training session carnage we host two Sign-on Nights.

These are on 15th (from 5.

New Members

Your Colt will get the first session as a trial if you haven't paid the memberships by the session or just want to try before you buy, but we would ask you to pay the membership after the trial date to continue.

Note a parent/guardian must also do a membership alongside your Colt - failure to do this means the Colt's membership is likely to be queried or refused.

It's that time of year again - we've navigated the winter successfully and are well into spring - cricket season is imminent.

If you can spare an hour or the duration, we'd really appreciate it, and we're sure you'll be rewarded in your efforts with some sort of refreshment.

We've compiled a handy list of jobs and tools so you can see what you'd like to get stuck into - if you use it, stick your name against it.

Our membership window is due to open on 1st April, closing on 30th April - this is the time to get renewed and continue being a Bluecap for the 2026 season.

What's Not New For 2026?
The good news - the membership subs aren't budging!

A reminder of the fees:

Male Senior Playing Member (Over 21) = £150

Ladies Senior Playing Member (Over 18) = £80

Intermediate Playing Member (18-20) = £80

Junior Member* (6-17) = £60

Additional Family Junior Member* (6-17) = £40

Blue Caps* (School Year 1 & 2) = £35

Social Playing Member = £25

Social Non-Playing Member/Parent Member = £20

Social Team* = £250

* All U18 members must have at least one parent or legal guardian who is also a member of the club either playing or social.

Allows you to play in Social League matches and up to a maximum 4 league or CPL matches per season - If you exceed 4 league or CPL matches, you will be sent a payment request to upgrade your playing membership.

*Allows up to 15 named players to play Social League matches for one Social League Team.

So What's New For 2026?
This year brings a couple of exciting updates to the membership offering:

You may have seen our Refer-a-Friend Scheme - if you know someone who’d love playing cricket at Chertsey CC simply refer them to the club and we’ll reward you with a £20 bar credit - help welcome new players, strengthen our teams, and enjoy some drinks on us, its a win-win.

Current members can refer a new Senior or Ladies playing member

Each successful referral earns £20 bar credit

Just make sure the new member lists your name as “Proposed by” on their application form

CPL10 - 24TH MAY, 14TH JUNE, 19TH JULY, 30TH AUGUST

For the uninitiated, CPL, or Chertsey Premier League, now in its tenth (and birthday) year, is sponsored by Oh, and if you're wondering what the pirate ship in the corner of the ground is for, the team placed last after Round 3 has to man that for Finals Day as "punishment".
So, what’s it all about?

The CPL is made up of four franchises, in no particular order Bourne Stars, Grove Armada, Meads Enforcers, and Gogmore Knights.
It's a round-robin format, with two matches each Matchday, with a finals day held in August.
An auction night is held at the beginning of each season to officially fill the roster of each team.
Franchises can approach sponsors to help fund playing shirts and kit.

We Need You - Can You Host Our 2026 Overseas?

We’re currently looking for local hosts for two of our overseas players joining us this summer - one male and one female player, both 22, arriving in late April.
The club will pay £550 per month to cover room rental to the host, offering a great opportunity for anyone with a spare room to earn some extra income over the summer.

The Chairman's View From the Middle - February 2026

While we’re all trying to remember what sunshine looks like, the Committee and I are hard at work with on and off field preparations for the coming season.

Andy Sewell, our Facilities Manager, has broken the world record for policy compliance, making sure the club is safe and protocols are being followed.

Our new colts chairman Dan Shepherd is tackling the monster that is our junior section and has everything well in hand.

We can announce the signing of a senior overseas for the men’s section - a New Zealander left arm fast bowler who will help coaching on a Friday evening as well as representing the club for the 1st XI.

We are also discussing the potential for an overseas player for the women’s senior team, replicating the successful partnership Shepperton had with the Brazilian ladies squad and working with them to include Chertsey in this initiative.

We welcome back an ex-Chertsey player in the form of Ed Marsh.

This was agreed at committee in consultation with club captain Ben Hanger, senior players' requests for additional coaching and as a foundation for our new pathway project and Trust League to improve future cricket at the club.

I’m happy to announce there will be no increase in membership fees this year, however, part of running the club is to ensure financial stability, cricket needs to covers its costs.

New match fees will be:

Senior 1s/2s - £14.

Our 250 Year celebrations are starting to take shape in the form of a cricket week from June 21st culminating in a flagship match against the Lord Taverners on Sunday 28th June.

Colts Safety Update Comes Into Force April 2026

The Colts Committee had their first meeting of the year a couple of weeks ago, and we have some updates for you around safety, so if you're a Colts parent, eyeballs down:

Following updates to ECB Safety Guidelines, the Colts Committee have discussed and agreed that the following policy changes should be made to take effect from April:

Neck Protectors - All U18's to wear neck protectors (stem guards) when wearing a helmet, coming into effect from April.

Ball Throwers (dog throwers, sling arms) - Ball Throwers are only to be used by a competent adult (over 18).

Bowling Machines - Bowling Machines are only to be operated by a competent adult (over 18) and the user protected by a perspex screen.

We think you'll agree, all very sensible and straightforward - the safety of our membership is always paramount, and we don't take these measures lightly.

CCC Launches Free Girls Cricket Sessions!

We're looking to grow our younger girls section, and we’re excited to launch a fun and welcoming cricket programme for girls aged 10 & 11 (School Years 5 & 6) at Salesians, Chertsey!

Spread the word - if you know anyone with a girl in this age group and who are completely new to cricket or already loves the game, this is the perfect chance to build skills and confidence in a supportive environment.

The sessions are free, and run from 6.

CCC Makes The Cricketer Magazine!

Chertsey have made the February edition of The Cricketer.
Chertsey legend Martin Allen and Communications Manager Claire Wright sat down with Oscar Ress of The Cricketer in December to talk about the 250-year middle stump anniversary event and outlining Chertsey's plans for honoring the event in the 2026 season.
"We're fiercely proud," Allen said.
They are truly astonished, particularly those players in those clubs who are interested in the history of the game, not just in what happened yesterday.
The night we celebrate our Colts section and all their achievements, as well as handing out some big club prizes (and that's not just the raffle).

CCC Launches Refer-a-Friend Scheme

Know someone who’d love playing cricket at Chertsey CC?
Refer them to the club and we’ll reward you with £20 bar credit with our Refer-a-Friend Scheme!
Here's the rules:

Get rewarded for growing the club – Existing members can earn £20 bar credit for every new eligible player they successfully refer.

Open to all current members – Any fully paid-up member from the previous season can take part in the scheme.

Who you can refer – Rewards apply when your friend joins as a Senior Member (21+) or a Chertsey Ladies playing member only.

Simple referral process – Just make sure your name is added in the “proposed by” field on the membership application.

Fair and transparent – The reward is issued once the new member has completed their application and paid in full.

Enjoy your reward at the club – Bar credit is non-transferable and can be used at the club bar as a thank-you for supporting and growing Chertsey CC.
