Bluecaps in Brief: Out of the Black

Bluecaps in Brief: Out of the Black

7 Apr 2021

That's it, we're calling it, Summer's here, the heating's turned off (might go back on Monday though) and we can see light at the end of the tunnel which means we will finally start to get going after what seems like the longest time ever.

With things moving ahead don't forget to get your membo done over at www.chertseycc.org.uk/pages/membership

Opening the Batting

After the longest of waits Colts training will start back on Monday 5th April and we will continue to have set days for Colts training sessions like last season, based on the ECB guidance.

We need parent warden volunteers to help oversee training sessions and ensure the protocols are being followed so please let your WhatsApp group know if you can help at your Colt's session.

Some reminders/refreshers on training numbers:

Nets - 1 coach x 8 colts (can net side-by-side i.e. two groups of 4)

Hardball fielding - 1 coach x 16

Softball fielding - 1 coach x 24

Colts should bring all their own equipment where possible. When it’s not, the equipment needs to be cleaned after use.

Guidelines for Parents:

  • If you or anyone you’ve been in contact with has Covid symptoms or is self-isolating, stay away from club.
  • Maintain personal Covid hygiene practices (social distancing, wash hands etc) whilst at the club.
  • Please arrive on time (not early) and leave club promptly.
  • Please scan QR code as part of our Track and Trace system. These can be found by each net.
  • Wait in carpark until being directed by the warden to your training session.
  • Arrive in training clothes and bring your own equipment including water bottle and hand sanitizer if possible.
  • The pavilion will be closed expect for use of the toilet.
  • One parents/guardian must stay on site and adhere to social distancing rules. Only one adult and no siblings to attend please. Spectators are currently banned from the club.
  • Each session will have a parent warden allocated who will help maintain Covid protocols.

Guidelines for Parent Wardens:

  • As a warden for your age group’s training session, you will be asked to confirm the attendees match those provided by your coach.
  • Meet all attendees in the carpark and proceed to the net. Confirm participants with the coach or let them know if anyone is missing.
  • Please ask parents to scan QR code which will be placed by the nets.
  • During the session, remind colts and parents to follow social distancing and report any persistent breaches to the coaches.
  • At the end of the session, please follow coaches instructions as to whether they need help tidying away, or simply wiping equipment down ready for the next group.

Please note you will need to complete both yours and your Colts membership prior to training commencing. You can do this by heading to www.chertseycc.org.uk/pages/membership

Don’t forget to keep in touch with your WhatsApp groups, and we look forward to seeing you all back training from next week and to the great season ahead!

The CPL2021, CCC’s four-team inter club franchise tournament launched this week and for its 5th season we're #rewritinghistory with some new spangly additions to what promises to be the best and brightest Chertsey Premier League ever; including the Power Surge Powerplay which should make life interesting and the Public Draft.

The Public Draft you ask? Well we teased a special challenge to get you up and playing cricket in last week's communique and here it is. This is how it will work - we will have names from the Main Draft, which comprises of the players above the age of 13 who played senior cricket last season - check here to see if you're listed, but now YOU have a chance to enter yourself into the pot if you're not already part of this Main Draft and these names together will make up the list of names on Auction Night, which will be beamed into living/bed/spare rooms on Friday April 30th from 8pm via Zoom (details forthcoming). All clear, we think? Good. So if you're a CCC member, over the age of 13 and want to be part of a squad let us know by Friday 23rd April at the latest, a week before the big Auction Night.

The CCC Work Weekend starts tomorrow morning at 9.30am, so big thanks to everyone who got in touch to add their name to the list for either day (and those bringing tools) by email or message, we very much look forward to seeing you and getting some good work done in preparation for the season.
