Bluecaps in Brief: T-Shirt Weather

Bluecaps in Brief: T-Shirt Weather

22 Apr 2022

Hello hello!

It's been 216 long days since we last saw cricket at the Edward Stern, but now its finally time to get back out on the park, and with another weekend of t-shirt weather ahead of us what an excellent time to get back into the swing of things whatever tribe you belong to.

We can see you have been renewing or applying for your membo in your droves, so thankyou muchly for taking the time to get yourself sorted and locking in for the season. For those still pondering don't forget this is super important if you want to play or buy a beverage so get it done here.

Most of you will have had the opportunity to take part in a training session by now, and if you've lost your famous blue cap or need one to cover your bonce during the Summer whilst supporting your favourite cricket club (Colts get the choice of this or a shirt on sign on night included in their membo) you can pre-order one here for 11 English pounds (no we do NOT take livestock as payment) and we can either hang on to it until we next see you or drop it down to your training session. We're good like that. Don't be one of those wallies who wants it first week of the season when its thirty degrees outside, for you may be disappointed...

The Sign-On Night Countdown Begins...

Tomorrow night from 6pm will be our annual signing on night - and some of the teams will be getting out for a cheeky session while they're at it we hear. Just to be clear all members are required to have registered online BEFORE coming along, which includes parents, carers, and the playing Colt. Please bring evidence of your membership (we've gone paperless so this can be your renewal confirmation email), as we will tick you off before handing over a 100 Years at Grove Road commemorative centenary T-shirt OR cap (they're peng as the kids say). The bar will also be open from 6pm and the lovely Suzy Q will be back providing food to purchase.

Two weeks of friendlies to complete, then we are ready to rock & roll and get stuck into it proper. First to get out the blocks are the Seniors with Horsley & Send the visitors and hosts (we recall the last time we were there was a very chilly September fixture), and Sunday sees Mr Hugh Aish-Lyons making his captaincy debut for the Sunday XI, so pop down and give him a bit of support would you against long-time comrades, the lovely Vishwa CC.

Going forward something to note for the social tribe: the bar shall be open from 2pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sundays. We'll also be open from 6pm on Thursdays and Fridays going forward, any dates outside this we'll shout. We also have some bar line swappages for your tastebuds to get around:

  • Fosters for Carling
  • Meantime IPA for Becks Vier
  • Peroni in for Kronenburg
  • Cornish Orchard in for Stowford Press

We shall sample them all on your behalf...
