Bluecaps in Brief: Chicken Payback

Bluecaps in Brief: Chicken Payback

13 Apr 2022

Question for you, how the actual are we at Easter already? We seem to have sailed right through Winter and now we're just a week away from the first pre-season friendlies, staring Summer right in the whites of its eyes.

You'll be pleased to know this week has seen the Club starting to wake up and creep into action, ticking the last few boxes before we can welcome you all back.

First up a huge thankyou to everyone who came down the club on Sunday morning for Spring Work Day to get things ready for the start of outdoor training (which has commenced for some with gusto this week) - your time is much appreciated...

A big up to the U12s though who also got on our good list early and started with the jobs on the Monday before Work Day - thanks to Coach Matt Henton the eager beavers had a week-long half term training camp and threw themselves into the challenge - an excellent way of paying it back we say.

So, Winter nets smashed out the park, post Spring Work Day ticked off, we're now ready to get outside into the erm, warm. Here's what days you're all down for:

Monday - Blueberries (girls U12), U9s & U10s

Tuesday - Seniors 6pm - 8.30pm, U15s

Wednesday - Ladies & Bluebirds (girls U15) 6pm-8pm

Thursday - Seniors 6pm - 8pm

Friday - Bluecaps, U8s, U11s, U12s, U13s & U14s

As ever don't forget to keep an eye on your WhatsApp groups for specifics, but get in touch with us at comms@chertseycc.org.uk or via the socials if you, your Colt, or their friends are interested in joining a tribe. Visit the Colts' dedicated page over on the website also for more info.

Speaking of joining a tribe, we cast a spotlight on the youngest of our Colts teams over on the socials this week - the Bluecaps, who had a very successful season last year with 40 children who have now moved onto the U8s. Coached by Kate Barnes, they are always looking for new children from school year one to join the squad. No experience or equipment are needed so come along and have a taster evening - sessions are on Friday nights, starting 22nd April. Again pop us a message via the socials or Comms to announce interest.

Friday 22nd from 6pm will also be our annual signing on night - and along with the Bluecaps some of the teams will be getting out for a cheeky session while they're at it we hear. Just to be clear all members are required to have completed their forms online BEFORE coming along, which includes parents, carers, and the playing colt(s). Please bring evidence of your membership (this can be your renewal confirmation email), as we will tick you off before handing over a 100 Years at Grove Road commemorative centenary T-shirt OR cap (we've seen them and they're peng as the kids would say). The bar will also be open and the lovely Suzy Q will be back selling her world-famous delicacies. That's one lady we have definitely missed.

If you've already done your "membo", fist bump your way, the rest of you, what are you waiting for, get it done here at https://chertseycc.org.uk/pages/membership

With the league season peeking its head round the corner a 1st XI scorer is also required - rather irritatingly we get fined for not employing the services of one by the league so if you fancy a hanging out with the 1s every week (they'll let you dip in their secret "bag for life" full of goodies i'm sure) a cash reimbursement for each game awaits. Pop us a message or email if the bag for life has swayed it.

and finally...

Some more of you took some time out this Monday to take part in the Young Officials Course hosted by the Surrey Cricket Foundation at the club - an enjoyable course with some essential skills learnt in officiating we hear - the only way is up. It just so happens we have a team requiring a scorer...
