Colts Safety Update - From April 2026

Following updates to ECB Safety Guidelines, the Colts Committee have discussed and agreed that the following policy changes should be made to take effect from April 2026:

Neck Protectors - All U18's to wear neck protectors (stem guards) when wearing a helmet, coming into effect from April.  Three pairs of neck protectors shall be purchased for each age group to ensure the requirement is met.

Ball Throwers (dog throwers, sling arms) - Ball Throwers are only to be used by a competent adult (over 18).

Bowling Machines - Bowling Machines are only to be operated by a competent adult (over 18) and the user protected by a perspex screen. If a screen is not available, the operator has to wear a helmet.

We're really proud of our Colts section - we're thriving, with over 150 eager youngsters training every week.

The section has plenty of fixtures to get your teeth into, are a part of various leagues and tournaments, and have a strong dedicated coaching team, as well as a promising girls section established in 2019.

FAQs

For any Colts looking to play for Chertsey, we offer a free taster session along with the rest of the gang on days during the week (see above),and if they like what they see they can sign up for a junior membership.

It would be good to know you're going to come along though so we can let the relevant Coach know, sowe'd ask if you can fill out the form to the right just so we have your details.

Any new Colts will be given one of Chertsey's famous blue cap or a swanky blue training top as part of their membership package. Those Colts training with the soft ball will just need to being themselves but those who have moved on to hardball will need to bring their own cricket gear.

We try not to cancel Friday sessions but if the weather is looking on the damp side we would encourage Colts to bring appropriate footwear.

The bar opens at 6pm on a Friday night for thirsty parents and Colts and we have a highly-recommended on-site bistro serving through the evening.

If you are interested in coming along or have any further questions please contact us here.
