Chertsey Cricket Club are Proudly Sponsored by
World Cargo Logistics
On Friday 5th December we held our Annual General Meeting - many thanks to those who were in attendance. We had a number of changes in personnel, all of whom are detailed below, and as well as meeting our new President, we awarded our honorary memberships, and inducted our Vice and Life Presidents.
The club were delighted to appoint our new Club President - Denis Perks.
Denis was asked to take over the role having an illustrious history here at Chertsey CC. As a 1st XI wicketkeeper for over 20 years, captain for 4, a committee member for 25 years organising countless events and fundraisers and a champion of our colts section, he laid the foundation for the success it is today.
The Club pay thanks to outgoing President Chris Smith - Chris provided huge support for all of the sections of our club, particularly the ladies, laid on a wonderful “traditional” President's Day back in July and been a driving force in getting some of our long standing members back to the club.
Changes in club personnel:
2s Captain - Dan Perks
3s Captain - Mark Nuti
4s Captain - Phil Boast
Sunday Captain - Hugh Aish-Lyons
Colts Chairman - Dan Shepherd
Membership Secretary - Hugh Aish-Lyons
Cricket Development Manager - Ade Clayton
We also awarded our Honorary Memberships to members who went above and beyond over last season - these go to:
Alan Dell, Alex Schofield, Ron Beecroft, David Marsh, Jim Heavey, and our Colts Coaches
We also inducted a new Vice President: Mary O’Farrell
Plus two new Life Vice Presidents: Ricky Redmond and Phil Boast
Please see below Chairman Felix Reisch's report:
"Good evening and thank you all for attending our AGM.
To be honest I didn’t think I'd be standing here this time last year, but I’m honoured to have been voted in as Chairman and I look forward to the coming season with all the ups and downs our amazing clubs brings. I’d like to thank Ricky for his tenure as Chairman, particularly for his pavilion renovations but more about that later.
We had a mixed bag of results on the playing side - and I’ll leave the captains to detail that - but I would like to draw attention to some of our successes. League wins in our ever growing colts section for the U11s, U14s and U15s - and of course our all conquering girls/ladies with both a league and slam title wins.
Captaining, coaching and organising any team isn’t an easy task, so please join me in thanking our captains, coaches, volunteers, umpires and scorers who all give up their time on a weekly basis.
Whilst playing cricket will always be at the heart of the club - our success also brings with it a responsibility to follow guidelines, protect our members and ensure a more “business-like” approach to our future - and for that I’d like to thank every member of the committee. Mary, Phil, Andy, Craig, both Claires, Sarah, Ben, Jamie, Hugh, Lloydy, Sonia, Stu, Paul, Harry and Muzza, all do work behind the scenes to ensure the day to day running of the club going smoothly. Please don’t mistake my brevity in thanking them as a lack of gratitude - but we’d be here for an extra hour if I went through and thanked them personally.
We are “your committee” and our only goal is improvement and to achieve that we always need help. Volunteers are the backbone of the club, a resource we desperately need and something every member should be looking to do. 5 minutes picking up litter, 10 mins putting equipment away, helping coaches at the end of a match. So please considering standing for a committee position or giving time during the season. The more help we have, the less anyone has to do.
And thank you to Carli and her team of helpers - providing hydration throughout the year, and in particular this years smooth running selling drinks to 2000 people on Fireworks night.
We have confirmed Faye and her team at Greedy Boyz will be taking over the running of our bistro. They will be providing a similar menu but in style and quality as Chris did previously, and will be firing up the grill from mid-May.
And finally, I’d like to thank Alan Dell, who has made an extremely generous donation of two new sites screens for the club. These have been order and will be delivered at the start of the new year. Thank you Alan."
The minutes of the AGM will be uploaded shortly.
