Chertsey Cricket Club are Proudly Sponsored by
World Cargo Logistics
Sponsored by West End Garage, the seventh Chertsey Premier League competition, and after a hundred-format hiatus last year normal service has resumed. If you're new to proceedings it follows like this: four Chertsey teams taken from four pools - the Draft (as bidded on at auction night last month), the Free Agents (allocated to a team but available to move if they require), the Legends - Chertsey bona fide legends who bring the class and sometimes carnage, and the Luxuries - non-Chertsey players signed exclusively to each franchise, all battle it out in a T20 format to get their name on the pink bat in the pavilion and the spoils come Finals Day.
So who are the franchises? Well, you have Meads Enforcers, two-time winners and current title holders in light blue, Grove Armada in navy, who's camaraderie is a way of life, Gogmore Knights in red, who always bring the class, and finally Bourne Stars in green, who bring a dangerous element of surprise and will be looking to be on the pitch rather than the pirate ship come Finals Day. Yeah that's what that's for in case you were wondering - the lowest placed team after three rounds has to transform it into a bar - aka Caribbean Corner for our amusement.
