Chertsey Cricket Club are Proudly Sponsored by
World Cargo Logistics
There's a massively important consultation taking place at the moment concerning our playing fields, pitches, and community sports facilities - and we need YOU, the CCC Members, to get involved.
The UK government have revealed plans to remove Sport England as a statutory consultee on all planning applications involving these spaces, which could put the pitches we use at risk with regards to development, reduce Sport England's capability to advise/support local authorities, and secure adequate provision of essential community sports facilities - all of which are vital to ensure we play cricket on our out grounds like Chertsey Rec and Abbeyfield each year.
By signing the petition to ensure Sport England remain a consultee (it needs 10,000 signatures to get a response from Parliament) you'll be helping to protect and future-proof not just our game, but all the other sports which are played at these grounds too.
The consultation ends on 13th January 2026, so if you want to go one further you can share the petition link, write to your local MP (you can find templates and more info on the Sport and Recreation Alliance website here), or make your case on social media with the hashtag #saveoursport and tagging in the MPs responsible for the change.
Go, go, go!
